Short close of Chapter III: on Paul's advice Willi leaves Villingen for Stuttgart at Pentecost 1924, having ended things with Else; note on his football and outings

Translated from Willi's German.

Paul advised me to go to Stuttgart, which is exactly what I did, and so at Pentecost 1924 I left Villingen. I had already broken things off with Else beforehand, though she still wrote to me a few more times in Stuttgart. During my time in Villingen I also played sport. I turned out for the second team, and we made some lovely outings, to places such as Meszkirch and Konstanz.

Interesting facts

Whitsun (Pentecost). 'Pfingsten' is a major Christian holiday in late spring, fifty days after Easter and a public holiday in Germany, traditionally a favourite time for journeys and fresh starts.
Konstanz on the lake. Konstanz sits on Lake Constance (the Bodensee) right at the Swiss border, a scenic destination reachable from the Black Forest region for a club outing.
Stuttgart. Stuttgart was the capital of the Wuerttemberg region and a far larger city than Villingen, a natural place for a young tradesman to look for work.
