We trained the Qantas crew on how to do the E Services on the aircraft. E Servicing is a major servicing, D Service is a lesser servicing done by the people in the squadrons. Someone got the idea they'd hand them over to the RAAF and that's how that went. I continued working for awhile at Richmond doing major tank repairs at Central Advisor. Tank repair is a rather involved process removing bulk heads and repairing tanks that have machined markings that sometimes cause cracking. We look for these marks and if they were bad we had to machine them out and then replace them with modified pieces. I'd been doing that for quite a number of years.

Interesting facts
Fuel tank work. Wings hold fuel in sealed bays entered through small panels. Someone has to get inside to inspect and reseal them, with a second person outside watching. It is the job nobody in a hangar volunteers for.
