The family history - Villingen and the German cousins

Derek Distel's family history. Photograph of a substantial two-story German house with mansard roof and attached structures. Text discusses the Distel family's German origin, traceable through church records to the 1500s. Mentions cousins Ludwig and Albrecht's research into the family butcher shop DISTEL'S for its 200th anniversary, and notes limitations in tracing family lines prior to the 1800s.

What the page says

MY COUSINS' HOME IN GERMANY THE DISTEL FAMILY BUTCHER SHOP The family is from Germany and the line can be followed right back through church records to the 1500's. What my cousins haven't done and what they aren't interested in doing, is following other lines that have come into the family. I know starts of many of the lines. In Germany research was done by my cousins, Ludwig and Albrecht for the 200th anniversary of the family butcher shop, DISTEL'S; it was done well and done accurately. But they haven't done anything of the old lines back further. I know some of what has gone on but only as far back as the 1800's. This is based on church records researched in person. Again, I was there but I didn't have the time to search further and it definitely takes a lot of time.
